Christmas Cottage

Christmas Cottage is an attractive and comfortable one bedroomed granite self catering cottage sitting in the heart of the Charming conservation town of New Galloway with its shops, tea rooms, public houses, and Catstrand Arts centre.With so much to do in the area it is an ideal centre for walking, fishing, cycling, bird watching and water sports or exploring the beauty of the Ken Valley, shops galore, the spectacular Galloway National Forest, the historic Castles, museums or country gardens and coffee. Relax and enjoy the beautiful Solway Coast (Rockcliffe, Kippford or beach at Sandgreen) it is a lovely area.

The Cottage is just on the edge of the  Galloway Forest Park recently designated Britain’s  first Dark Sky park. On a clear night you can take time to enjoy the sight of thousands of stars, maybe even a shooting star. While walking in the woods you can possibly see the timid red squirrels or why not drive around Loch Ken and watch the numerous Red Kites feeding, you are guaranteed to see one of these fascinating birds on the Red Kite trail. On Raiders Road forest trail you can follow the old drovers road and maybe catch sight of the Otters playing and afterwards  perhaps call in at the educational Red Deer feeding range or have and afternoon tea and stroll at the Clatteringshaws Visitors Centre.

The Cottage is within walking distance of New Galloway Golf Course where relatively inexpensive day ticket is available and the views are spectacular .  The Cottage is 15 to 25 minutes easy drive from the popular towns of Castle Douglas, Newton Stewart, lovely Harbour Town of Kirkcudbright or charming Gatehouse of fleet . In Kirkcudbright and Castle Douglas you will find a great range of independent shops, museums, coffee shops and  places to eat

The Cottage is dog friendly with a small enclosed garden and many beautiful walks some straight from the front door. Your dog will be welcome in most places in all but the busiest of days and will certainly have a wonderful break, it marvelous dog walking country

In the evening why not relax for a night or two in front of the log fire. Christmas Cottage offers ideal accommodation for a peaceful break at an affordable price, no wonder so many of our visitors return quickly.
